Federation University

Partnering with Federation University allows Casey Cardinia Libraries (CCL) to improve access to information, resources, education services and student support services for the community in the Casey Cardinia Region. We have a pop-up library with within the Federation University Library on the Berwick Campus site. This library will provide free access to reading materials for students, university staff and CCL Library members.

The partnership will also see the development of dedicated study spaces within CCL Libraries. These study centres will provide a space for school and higher education students to freely access to appropriate study spaces, wireless internet and support.

Forgiving Tree

Since 2016 we have run the Forgiving Tree program at Christmas. This campaign has allowed us to foster ongoing local partnerships with 7 key charities:

1. Cranbourne Information Support Service (CISS)
2. Transit Outreach Service
3. Hampton Park Community House Community and Family Support Division
4. Salvation Army (Doveton)
5. WAYSS
6. St Marks Emerald
7. 4 C’s

The program encourages members to have their fines wiped if they donate non-perishable food, toys or toiletries to the Forgiving Tree. CCL then pass all donations onto the libraries selected local charity. In 2017 we paid more than $8000 in fines, forgive more than $13000 and the Casey Cardinia Community donated more than $20000 in non-perishable food and toys for families in need.

Metro Trains

We have partnered with Metro Trains, so we can take the library to our busy Casey Cardinia community. Each quarter we have a pop-up library at Narre Warren Train station promoting the library services to commuters during the peak morning rush. Pop ups occur once a quarter and run for a week at a time.

Together We Can

The Together We Can partnership via Cardinia Shire Council seeks to engage both professionals and members of the community, helping to open up dialogue and provide support for those affected by family violence through access and dissemination of information and advice.

This program involves a short story competition and a community summit: Together With Me @ the Library which will be held on 16 April 2019 at Pakenham Library. The summit engages local schools, families and teaching professionals to engage with local support services and to hear Dr Michael Carr Gregg speak on building healthy relationships.

YMCA

A healthy body supports a healthy mind, so we have partnered with YMCA in the City of Casey to deliver a range of events and activities that encourage people to look after their bodies as well as their brains. Yoga, Meditation and Nutrition events will be held at Bunjil Place Library, Endeavour Hills Library and Cranbourne Library across 2018
